Keys-bound,
or Keys-out.
The Keys are a distinct auto transport market — limited road access (US-1 only), limited repair infrastructure, and salt corrosion that drives consistent service-shipping demand. Keys residents routinely ship vehicles to mainland Florida for service, warranty work, and body shop repair, then back when complete. We operate an exclusive partnership with In-N-Out Keys — the veteran-owned Keys specialty carrier running a daily Fort Lauderdale to Key West lane.
Service shipping, not snowbird.
Most Keys volume isn’t seasonal residents — it’s working residents shipping vehicles to mainland for repair work that can’t happen on the islands.
Why the Keys are a distinct market.
The Florida Keys are 113 miles of islands connected by one road. That geography fundamentally shapes auto transport — limited infrastructure, salt-air corrosion, and the daily reality of needing mainland services drive a shipping pattern unlike anywhere else in our network.
Limited infrastructure, mainland-dependent.
The Florida Keys have no dealerships for most major brands. The handful of body shops and repair facilities on the islands handle routine service, but anything significant — warranty work, transmission rebuilds, major collision repair, manufacturer recalls, dealer maintenance — requires sending the vehicle to mainland Florida.
For a working vehicle, the owner can drive US-1 to Miami or Fort Lauderdale and arrange service. But for vehicles that can’t be driven safely — accident damage, mechanical failure, transmission issues, salt-corrosion brake problems — shipping is the only practical option. The 165-mile US-1 drive with limited turnaround points and few service stations isn’t a route you can attempt with a vehicle that might fail.
That’s why Keys outbound shipping is dominated by service-driven moves: vehicles heading to mainland body shops, dealerships, transmission specialists, and warranty service centers. The companion volume is Keys inbound — those same vehicles returning home, plus mainland-purchased vehicles being delivered to Keys residents.
Salt corrosion, hurricane reality.
Keys vehicles age differently. Salt air accelerates corrosion on brakes, electrical systems, undercarriages, and structural components. A 5-year-old vehicle in the Keys often has the corrosion profile of a 10-year-old mainland vehicle. This drives consistent INOP shipping volume — vehicles that mechanically fail due to salt damage and need to be moved without being driven.
Hurricane seasons add another layer. A storm hit can produce dozens or hundreds of flood-damaged vehicles needing transport to salvage buyers, body shops, or replacement disposition. August through November can spike Keys-outbound INOP volume significantly in storm years.
This is what In-N-Out Keys was built for — a Keys-headquartered carrier with the equipment and routing knowledge to handle vehicles that other carriers won’t touch. Daily Fort Lauderdale to Key West lane, expert with INOP and salt-damaged vehicles, veteran-owned and operated from Mile Marker 0.

Mile Marker Zero.
Steven Jankowski founded In-N-Out Keys in 2023 after years of watching the Keys auto transport market underserved by mainland carriers. As a US Army veteran with deep operational experience and a Key West resident, he built a carrier specifically for the geography and reality of the islands. Daily Fort Lauderdale to Key West lane, equipment for INOP and salt-corroded vehicles, expert routing through the Overseas Highway, and a Keys headquarters that lets him respond to local pickup needs in hours, not days.
In-N-Out Keys is our exclusive Keys carrier partner. When you book a Keys route through us, you’re booking with the only carrier in the network that’s based in the Keys and runs the lane daily.

The four real use cases.
Keys auto transport doesn’t fit the snowbird mold or the standard dealer/INOP mold. It has its own pattern — four core use cases that account for most of our volume.
Keys vehicles heading to mainland body shops, dealerships, warranty service. The biggest single category — limited Keys infrastructure means this is constant year-round demand.
The companion to outbound — vehicles returning to Keys owners after repair work is complete. Same lane, opposite direction, often same customer twice.
After storm hits, flood and wind damage generate INOP outbound volume to salvage and body shops. August-November in storm years.
Vehicles purchased on mainland (dealerships, Carvana, private sale) being delivered to Keys residents. Steady year-round volume.
What to know about the Keys.
A few things specific to Florida Keys routes worth knowing before you book your shipment.
US-1 is the only land access to the Keys. That means consistent transit times but also vulnerability to road closures during severe weather or accidents. Carriers monitor US-1 status closely.
August through November. Active storms can suspend shipping for safety. After storms pass, INOP outbound volume can spike — book early if you have storm-damaged vehicles needing transport.
Many Keys outbound shipments are INOP due to salt corrosion. Be upfront about brake, electrical, or undercarriage issues — carriers bring appropriate equipment. INOP fee $150-$300.
